| Bogdan Mandic was born in Herzog Novi, Dalmatia in 1866. He was missionary and martyr for the reunification of eastern and western Christians. His confessional in the Cappuccini convent of Padua remained untouched, as himself had foresaid, under a bombardment short after his death in 1942, saving his brothers, too, who had found shelter in the nearby. Canonised as St. Leopold by John Paul II, his day falls on the 12th of May. I am grateful and pride to cite him as an ex-voto for my own family. |
